In a recent statement, former President Trump expressed confidence in his potential choice for the next Federal Reserve Chair. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, he remarked, “I think I already know my choice,” although he refrained from disclosing any names. This announcement comes as the search for the new Fed Chair intensifies, led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Bessent has indicated that the list of candidates has been narrowed down to a select few. Among the contenders are current Federal Reserve Governors Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman, as well as former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh. Additionally, White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett and Rick Rieder, an executive at BlackRock Inc., are also in the running. The selection process is closely watched, given the critical role the Fed plays in shaping monetary policy and influencing the economy. As the decision looms, speculation continues about who will ultimately be chosen to lead the Federal Reserve.
