Expedia Group has confirmed it will permanently eliminate 58 corporate positions at its Seattle headquarters. The travel technology company filed a notice under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires employers to provide advance notice of significant layoffs. According to the filing, the reductions are scheduled to take effect later this year.
The move adds to a series of workforce changes across the travel industry as companies adjust to shifting demand and rising operating costs. Expedia has spent the past several years restructuring its business, trimming overhead, and consolidating teams in an effort to streamline decision making. The latest cuts target corporate roles rather than frontline staff.
Affected employees will receive severance packages and job placement assistance, though the company has not disclosed specific details about the terms. Expedia has not said whether additional layoffs are planned beyond this round.
The Seattle area has seen a wave of tech and travel sector job cuts in recent months, leaving many workers navigating a tighter labor market. Expedia employs thousands of people worldwide and remains one of the largest travel platforms, operating brands such as Hotels.com and Vrbo. The company says it will continue hiring in areas tied to its core growth strategy even as it reduces headcount elsewhere.
