City names new deputy manager with deep roots in Beaumont finance

The City of Beaumont has appointed Laura Clark as its new Deputy City Manager, a role that replaces the former Assistant City Manager position. Clark, a familiar face in local government, brings deep roots in Beaumont's financial operations to the leadership team.

Clark previously served as the city's Director of Finance, overseeing budgets, audits, and long-term fiscal planning. Her return marks a homecoming of sorts, as she left the position several years ago. City officials noted that the shift from Assistant City Manager to Deputy City Manager reflects a broader restructuring aimed at streamlining management and focusing on key priorities.

In her new role, Clark will oversee several departments, including finance, human resources, and information technology. She will also work closely with the City Manager on strategic initiatives, particularly those tied to infrastructure funding and economic development.

Mayor Roy West praised Clark's track record, calling her "a proven leader with an intimate understanding of Beaumont's financial landscape." He emphasized that her experience will be critical as the city navigates post-pandemic recovery and ongoing growth pressures.

Clark herself expressed enthusiasm about returning to public service in Beaumont. She said she looks forward to collaborating with city staff and community stakeholders to ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Her first day in the new role is set for early next month.
